In an effort to benefit Crew Nation, the global relief fund for touring and venue crews facing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Iconic Auctions offered up a massive trove of collectible items in their Amazing Music Auction (Vol. 1). Among the impressive lots were a number of strands of hair once attached to late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.
Bids on the six strands offered were placed at a minimum of $2,500 -- and all six were picked up. According to the final listing, 14 bids were finally placed on the blonde locks.

The strands, originating from a 1989 haircut Kurt got while Nirvana was on their famous Bleach tour over in the U.K., have all sold at a total of $14,145 according to the auction house -- a high price indeed, but these are considered the only pieces of Cobain’s hair on the market.
TMZ has some further proof of the hair's travels over the years, including a photo of Kurt with his friend (and that day's hairdresser), Tessa Osbourne as well as some of the other hands they have passed through before finally being offered to fans for a great cause. In other news, the FBI recently released archived records pertaining to the death Cobain, featuring letters from two people asking the FBI to investigate the singer’s death by suicide in 1994 because some believed foul play was involved.
