Following a class-action lawsuit claiming the energy drink Celsius was not forthcoming with its ingredients, the drink company is shelling out cash to anyone who purchased one of the drinks in the last eight years.

Those who are looking for a payout from Celsius won’t get it just by saying they’ve bought the drink, as they’ll have to provide proof that they purchased the beverage or mix between Jan. 1, 2015, and Nov. 23, 2022.

The lawsuit claims that Celsius had been falsely promoting its drinks as free of preservatives when the products contained citric acid.

While the company argued that citric acid was used in the beverages as a flavoring and not a preservative, it settled “to avoid the expense and risks of the lawsuit.”

Those who can provide a receipt proving they purchased a Celsius drink or mix will receive up to $250. Those without will receive up to $20.

To submit a claim, visit Celsius’ website dedicated to the class-action settlement. All claims must be submitted by Feb. 13, 2023.
