(WWJ) – Little Caesars has been known for rolling out some interesting pizza creations over the years, perhaps none more popular than its pretzel crust.
On Tuesday fans thought they were getting their beloved pretzel crust back when the Metro Detroit-based chain tweeted a quirky video teasing a “salty, buttery, cheesy” crust.
The zany man in the video – identified as John Jahy Pepp – even says “it’s a special pizza we only do once in a while.”
But many fans on Twitter were disappointed when he introduced “corncob crust from Little Caesars.”
Pepp says the pizza even comes with a 2-liter of liquified butter.
“This pie’s loaded with corn. Why? I don’t know,” he says.
The video – released on Twitter with a caption saying “You asked for it, and we listened! Introducing The Crust the World Craves!” – was met with mostly lighthearted disappointment, including some users pointing out it’s a little too early for April Fool’s jokes.
“You've gone too far, Little Caesars. You can't just play with my emotions like that, thinking that my favorite fast food item ever created, the Pretzel Crust Pizza, is coming back, then fake me out with this,” one user said.
While some admitted they actually want to try the fake corncob crust, some have speculated that this is just a precursor to the actual return of the pretzel crust. It remains to be seen when that may happen.
