A Cincinnati man who tried an alternative approach to clearing snow from his steps with a blowtorch ended up with a massive bill after he accidentally set his house on fire.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the unnamed homeowner opted to use a blowtorch, rather than a shovel and salt, to melt the ice on his front porch, the Cincinnati Fire Department told WJW.
However, the man accidentally set the siding on fire.
The flames quickly traveled up the side of the house and across the roof. By the time firefighters arrived, all three floors of the home were on fire, WJW reported.
Although firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze shortly after arriving, the house suffered an estimated $98,000 in damage, per the fire department.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
