A man's dead body laid in a front yard for days and everyone from the neighbors to the landscapers moved around it, assuming it was a Halloween decoration.
The macabre scene played out in Rowan County, North Carolina. That's where police said Robert Owens, 34, died alongside the long driveway of a vacant house.
At one point, a landscaping crew cut the lawn around his body.
"Don't know how you can do that," Owens' sister, Haley Shue, told Queen City News. "Mow right beside someone and assume that they're a Halloween decoration at a house no one lives at."
There's no word on how he died, although police did say foul play is not suspected. Owens' sister added that the family doesn't know how he ended up at that house.
“We want answers," she said.
Owens was last seen alive Oct. 1; His body was discovered a week later. Police are awaiting autopsy results for his cause of death.
