After casting doubt on rumors that he could once again play the role of Batman just a few weeks ago, Michael Keaton will be back as the caped crusader in 'The Flash,' The Wrap reported Monday.
“With [the ‘Batman’ reprise], I’m going to see what happens here,” he told Deadline. “This is going to be kind of fun. We’ll see what happens.” Now his agency confirmed the news as Warner Bros. commemorated day 1 of filming.
The actor made light of having to don the superhero costume again and joked how it would be a few sizes larger than when he last played the iconic character nearly 30 years ago.
“You return something and say, ‘What is this?’” Keaton said of having to pick the costume up at the dry cleaners. “How come you gave me The Hulk’s outfit?” Keaton previously played Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton's "Batman" in 1989 and the 1992 sequel "Batman Returns."
In the upcoming film, The Flash will encounter Keaton's Batman through time travel where Val Kilmer & George Clooney's iterations never existed. It's set to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.
