We've seen a real estate boom in North Texas over the last couple of decades or so, and we saw the market really ramp up the last few years, but there's one area people have been skeptical about, but are finally dipping their toe in…

Y'all, people are buying land in Dallas in the Metaverse!

Yes, the Metaverse, a world that exists solely online, that for whatever reason people like to spend their hard-earned dollars on, and the digital real estate market is the investment of choice for many these days.

People are purchasing digital Dallas land by using Next Earth, an "Earth-based metaverse that is a complete digital version of the world map."

The Dallas Observer has laid out exactly how Next Earth and buying all this digital land works:

The platform has four main pillars: economy, population, environment and governance, framed by an Earth-based metaverse.

Users can buy virtual land as NFTs, which can be connected to their web2 businesses or used to build applications using the Next Earth Operating System.

The platform's native currency is NXTT, which is used for land purchases, long-term token holding and fueling its complex ecosystem The platform also has a launchpad for startups to launch their tokens within the Next Earth economy.

Now what exactly people are actually doing with this digital land they've purchased with very real thousands of dollars we're still not entirely sure.
