'Rare' 7-foot snake found in Chula Vista home

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KNX) – A Chula Vista discovered a slithery surprise when he went to sit down on his couch.

Alex Trejo, the owner of So-Cal Rattlesnake Removal, told KGTV he received a phone call from a guy saying a snake was in his couch.

“I literally lift the cushion and there this giant 7-foot Vietnamese blue beauty rat snake is just coiled up right behind the cushion,” he told the station, noting the snake is a rare find.

Trejo also told the outlet that he believes the snake escaped its owner.

He shared video of the snake on his Instagram page to show off the snake, saying it’s “easily seven feet in length.”

Trejo did note the snake isn’t venomous, but said it did bite the lining of his shirt.
