Lifestyle website Parked In Paradise conducted a study, focused on 3,500 Americans aged 11 to 24-years-old, and sought to find common "must-do" experiences.
Now, you would think that seeing a cow in-person may not necessarily be a "must-do" experience, but believe it or not, most people have not had the pleasure.
The study found that 54% of the people surveyed have NEVER seen a cow in person! Some of the more "common" activities these young people surveyed have never partaken in include:
1. Never gone camping or even hiking - 43%
2. Have never seen the sun rise - 27%
3. Have never cooked a meal from scratch - 19%
4. Have never left the state where they were born - 15%
5. Have never sent something in the mail - 13%
What are some mundane things that you've never done?
This study leads us to humbly suggest that you take the kids on a drive this weekend, socially distanced of course, to Monroe or Up North or wherever it is you need to go to get a cow fix.
And while you're there, think about this: During a stressful year defined by the pandemic and politics, "cow hugging" has become a thing in some parts of the world. In the Netherlands, people are reducing stress by fineind a field and hugging a big, hairy bovine. FOX News reports, "the practice of cuddling cows is thought to reduce stress in humans by releasing the bonding hormone oxytocin."
Only do it with permission, of course, because getting chased by a farmer with a shotgun is the opposite of relaxing.
"Cows are very relaxed animals, they don't fight, they don't get in trouble," a farm owner who promotes cow hugging as a form of relaxation therapy told the BBC. "You come to the fields and we have some special hugging cows and you can lay next to [them] — people think it's very relaxing."
