Most people have a healthy fear of missing their flight, but they tend to run to the ticket counter if they miss it. This wasn’t the case for a woman who ran onto the tarmac at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport over the weekend.

When 53-year-old Vickie Meyers of St. Louis, Missouri, arrived at her flight on Sunday afternoon, the door to the jetway had already been secured when she tried to board, according to police, 14news reported.

But Meyers did not want to wait for the next flight, instead deciding to run through the glass doors separating the passenger area from the secure airfield, police said.

According to court documents, the doors were clearly marked with signs that read no trespassing in at least two languages, ABC15 reported.

Employees were able to stop Meyers as she ran down a flight of stairs towards the nose of the airplane.

Police said she told employees she was “attempting to have the plane stopped so she would not miss her flight.”

Meyers was arrested by Phoenix police officers and has been charged with first-degree criminal trespassing on a crucial public service facility—a felony in Arizona.
