Police in Maine arrested a woman they said called in bomb threats to her boyfriend’s job to get him out of work.

Police said that Kayla Blake threatened to bomb Puritan Medical Products in Pittsfield, Maine, two separate times Thursday morning.

In the first call to Maine State Police, investigators said Blake told dispatchers she would bomb the plant that same day. Then, roughly two hours later, she told police she would leave four pipe bombs at the facility.

The company — which manufactures swabs for COVID-19 tests — evacuated an estimated 400 employees from two of its plants in the Pittsfield area because of the threats.

Investigators traced the phone calls back to Blake, who they said admitted to lying to police about the explosives. Officers said Blake wanted her boyfriend to be sent home from work so she could spend time with him, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Maine State Police arrested Blake, charging her with felony terrorizing.
