
After an historic season that saw Ronald Acuña Jr. join the 40-70 club with 41 homes runs and 73 stolen bases, the Atlanta Braves outfielder was awarded the 2023 National League Most Valuable Player Award Thursday in unanimous fashion.
He became the eighth player in team history to win the award.
In addition to becoming the first 40-70 player in MLB history, Acuña led the NL in on-base percentage (.416), OPS (1.012), hits (217), and runs scored (154). He was second in majors in batting average (.337).
Dodgers Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman finished second and third, respectively. Braves first baseman Matt Olson was fourth in the voting
Acuña became the second unanimous MVP winner of the night, joining the AL winner Shohei Ohtani. This is the first time in league history where both MVPs were unanimous.
