1990 Barry Sanders Detroit Lions game-used & autographed road jersey sells for $55,152

LOS ANGELES – A Detroit Lions road jersey worn by Barry Sanders in a 225 total yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in 1990 sold Saturday night for $55,152 at Grey Flannel Auctions.

Sanders was in his second year in the National Football League in 1990 after capturing Rookie of the Year honors in 1989 and winning the Heisman Trophy in 1988.

Sanders wore his trademark number 20 jersey on October 14th, 1990 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sanders finished the game with 135 receiving yards, 90 rushing yards and scored 2 touchdowns in a 43-24 loss to the Chiefs. On the front left tail is the MacGregor Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “44.” Adjacent above is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for DETROIT LIONS” tag. Velcro material has been added to the front and back tail to help keep the jersey tucked in.

Sanders went to lead the NFL in rushing with 1,304 yards and scored 16 touchdowns.

Bidding began at $5,000.
