Is Urban Meyer about to take over at another college football powerhouse?

With the offseason approaching, and several coaching jobs potentially soon to be up for grabs, rumors are intensifying about the former Florida and Ohio State coach, who exited Columbus in 2018 after a tumultuous final season there.

One such job that is the subject of speculation is with the Texas Longhorns -- and according to Bryan Broaddus of G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Meyer is in fact engaged in talks to be the next head coach in Austin.

"I mentioned the backroom meetings and stuff like that, and that's where they are right now -- that they are talking with Urban Meyer," Broaddus said. "Urban Meyer, right now, is in the process of putting together a staff."

You can hear more of his thoughts in the video above.

Of course, one complication is the fact that the Longhorns presently have a head coach in Meyer disciple Tom Herman. Texas is 30-18 overall in four years under Herman, and 21-13 in conference play.

Further fueling rumors about Meyer's plans was a recent report by a local Austin outlet that his wife had been scoping out properties in the area.

Meyer, 64, has served as an analyst on Fox Sports college football pregame coverage on Saturdays since stepping down from Ohio State.

The three-time national title winner cited health reasons for his departure, and was suspended three games for his handling of allegations of spousal abuse against assistant coach Zach Smith.
