CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. will not return this season.
Wills underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday morning and he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season the team announced.
Wills was placed on injured reserve on November 6 after he suffered an MCL injury in a win over the Arizona Cardinals the day before but it was not believed to be season-ending at the time.
The team wanted to see if Wills would be able to recover without surgery. Five weeks later, and Wills' injury had not progressed they way the medical staff had hoped.
The Browns have lost three offensive tackles to knee injuries for the season – Jack Conklin during Week 1, Wills in Week 9 and this past weekend rookie Dawand Jones.
Returner Jakeem Grant, running back Nick Chubb, safety Rodney McLeod and quarterback Deshaun Watson have also suffered season-ending injuries.
The Browns are 8-5, despite starting four different quarterbacks this season, and they currently hold the top Wild Card slot and fifth seed in the AFC playoff race.
