In the least surprising news of the day, Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy has been fined for the comments he made about the officiating after the Bruins' 5-4 loss to the Islanders in Monday night's Game 5.

The NHL announced Tuesday morning that Cassidy has been fined $25,000.

In a lengthy postgame rant, Cassidy criticized referees Francis Charron and Francois St-Laurent for missing several fairly blatant penalties by the Islanders.

He also criticized the linesmen for throwing Patrice Bergeron out of the faceoff circle several times after Islanders coach Barry Trotz had publicly complained that Bergeron was "cheating" on faceoffs.

Cassidy said the Islanders have successfully sold the narrative that they're more like the "New York Saints" than a hockey team, which he believes has factored into New York getting away with infractions that the Bruins keep getting called for.
