It was an emotional moment that Jerry Jones, Cowboys staff, and fans will never forget as Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn was told he was being drafted by his own father.
On Saturday evening, Dallas Cowboys’ assistant director of college scouting, Chris Vaughn, made the call of a lifetime from the team’s war room.
Deuce Vaughn received the call from his dad just before he was announced as the Dallas Cowboys 6th round pick.
On the phone call, Chris Vaughn asked his son how it was going saying, “this is dad.”
“My phone wasn’t working, but look here man. You want to come to work with me next week?” Chris Vaugh said, fighting back tears.
“I wouldn’t mind that at all,” Deuce Vaugh responded as the war room broke into cheers.
The phone was then handed over to the Cowboys owner, who gave his traditional welcome conversation to the prospect.
“Your daddy just handed the card in,” Jones told the running back.
