Aidan Hutchinson, man of the people.
The Lions defensive end won't be playing in the Super Bowl next weekend, but he'll be there -- and he's sending an Army veteran and his wife to the game as part of the NFL's Salute to Service campaign.
Hutchison is sending William "Russ" Hall and his wife, a schoolteacher, to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, where the retired 27-year veteran will get to spend time with Hutchinson and other NFL stars who are partnered with Veterans of Foreign Wars and USAA. Hall, a Philadelphia native, served at every level in the military, with several overseas deployments.
Hutchinson said that he and Hall "have a lot in common, like our dedication, determination, and patriotism, and I can't wait to meet Lieutenant Colonel Hall in Las Vegas."
"As athletes, we endure challenges on the field, but our battles pale in comparison to the sacrifices made by the military community," he said.
