Anzalone questionable against Cardinals, Arnold trending toward playing

The Lions are close to full health for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold should be on the field after returning to practice Friday following an illness that sidelined him the past two days. He's listed as questionable, but Dan Campbell said Friday that Arnold is "trending the right way" toward playing.

That would mean the Lions' starting secondary will be intact against Kyler Murray, though safety Ifeatu Melifonwu will miss his third straight game after missing another week of practice due to an ankle injury he suffered in training camp. He doesn't sound all that close to returning.

Rookie cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, who injured his hamstring in pregame warmups ahead of last week's loss to the Bucs, is also out after missing practice this week.

The biggest question mark is linebacker and co-captain Alex Anzalone, who practiced Thursday and Friday but must clear concussion protocol to play Sunday. The final hurdle for Anzalone is responding without symptoms to football activities.

Anzalone, who suffered the concussion on a friendly-fire blow from Derrick Barnes last Sunday, is listed as questionable. The Lions should know more on Saturday about his chances of playing.

"He’s been going through the protocol, and he was out there (for walk-through)," Campbell said Friday. "He ran around a little bit and we’ll see where he’s at today. There again, it’s hard to say. You just never know with the concussion protocol.”

Starting guard Graham Glasgow (knee) is also listed as questionable after getting a rest day Wednesday, but Campbell said Friday before practice that Glasgow is good to go.
