David Montgomery could be back on the field for the Lions in less than a month -- and might not miss a single playoff game.
After avoiding surgery on his injured MCL, Montgomery is targeting a return in the divisional round of the playoffs, per Ian Rapoport. If the Lions secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye, that would be their first game of the postseason.
Montgomery was initially feared to be headed for season-ending surgery, but he "sought three high-level medical opinions" and "the prevailing opinion was, no surgery," Rapoport reported Sunday morning. "He now is going to rehab with a realistic goal of being back for the divisional round for the playoffs."
The divisional round is Jan. 18-19.
Rapoport also reported Sunday that Aidan Hutchinson remains "on track to be back for the Super Bowl" if the Lions get there and that Alex Anzalone, who's missed the last four games with a broken forearm, "should be back for the playoffs."
