Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs isn't yet ready to practice after suffering a hamstring injury last Monday, but "our plan is to get him going next week," Dan Campbell said Tuesday.

The Lions fully expect Gibbs to be ready for the season opener against the Rams. He's one of several players slated to return to practice after Detroit's final preseason game Saturday against the Steelers, along with tight end Sam LaPorta, guard Kevin Zeitler, offensive tackle Dan Skipper and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, all of whom will rest this week with minor ailments.

Campbell also said the Lions are aiming to activate defensive tackle D.J. Reader next week and work him into individual drills. He's been on the physically unable to perform list throughout camp after undergoing surgery on a torn quad last December.

"We’re about to get a whole group of guys back, hopefully Sunday," Campbell said. "And then they’ll get next week’s practice before we get ready for the Rams. Gibbs falls into that boat, he’s trending the right way. Wish we had more practice with him, but he’s healing and on schedule to be back and get his legs back under him and we’ll see where he’s at."

Just behind the aforementioned group of players is first-round pick Terrion Arnold, who hasn't practiced since suffering a pec injury last Monday. The Lions hope to get him back by the middle of next week, Campbell said.

"He’s trending the right way. Like, I’m not concerned," said Campbell.

Arnold is slated to start at outside cornerback across from Carlton Davis III, who returned to practice in a limited capacity Tuesday as he nurses a hamstring injury. Fellow free agent cornerback Amik Robertson, who's vying for the starting job at nickel, was also limited for Tuesday's practice.

Ennis Rakestraw, who injured his ankle last Monday and missed the Lions' second preseason game, was back at practice Tuesday.

"As of right now, I think there’s a good chance we’re going to have most of our guys ready for Week 1," Campbell said.
