Jameson Williams has lofty goals for his career. He has said in the past that he wants to go down as "the best to ever play the game at my position." Fittingly, he also has lofty goals for this season.
In year three with the Lions, Williams is aiming to lead the NFL in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
"That would be my personal goals," Williams recently told ESPN. "Out of the whole NFL, I want to have the most receiving yards and TD's. It don’t matter about catches, because I know what I’m gonna do when I get the ball."
Williams has just 25 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns through his first two seasons, though he's missed almost a full season's worth of games due to injuries and a gambling suspension.
The former No. 12 pick is poised to play a bigger role in the Lions' offense this year, which could indeed lead to a breakout season. But it's quite the leap to the top of the receiving charts.
Dolphins All-Pro Tyreek Hill led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards last season, or 112.4 per game. He also tied for the lead with Mike Evans of the Bucs with 13 receiving touchdowns. Williams finished with 354 receiving yards, or 29.5 per game, and two touchdowns.
"I expect a lot more," Williams said this offseason. "I want to be the best to ever play the game at my position, and I'm just getting started. Year three right now. I feel like I've got a long way to go. I've got a lot of stuff to work on."
