Jared Goff's first touchdown celebration last week was a little cooler than his first. Both left Calais Campbell shaking his head.
With the six-time Pro Bowl defensive end bearing down on him, Goff waited just long enough to uncork a 45-yard bomb to tight end Sam LaPorta to give the Lions a 10-3 lead over the Falcons in the second quarter. Campbell laid a licking on Goff, but not before it was too late.
As LaPorta strode into the end zone, Campbell looked at Goff and said, "I was this close!"
"Almost!" Goff grinned.
Goff, by the way, called his shot. The Lions had been working on that play to LaPorta all week, and waiting for the right time to call it in the game. In the huddle before the snap, Goff told the offense, "I don't know if y’all wanna know, but this is the one."
Indeed it was.
Goff would get the better of Campbell again in the fourth quarter, dancing around him on his three-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach.
