The 2020 season didn't go as planned for the Lions, and now they find themselves looking for a new coach and new general manager. While we wait on those hires, it's never too early to peruse some mock drafts and consider who the Lions could select with the seventh overall overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

USA TODAY - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Where does Detroit start with overhauling a defense that ranked last in yards and points allowed? ... Parsons has a strong claim to the title of the draft's most explosive defender, and he's a standout in almost any assignment.

NBC SPORTS - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

If they can’t trade down then I think they take the best player available in Parsons. The Penn State linebacker is an explosive athlete who is a tremendous blitzer with the speed and skill to beat offensive linemen and blow plays up. He’s still working on ironing out some issues at the second level, but he’s a no-doubt impact player and the Lions need as many of those as they can find.

SB NATION - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

Death. Taxes. The Lions taking first round receivers. I’m sure it’s a bummer that Detroit will have to settle for the third best in the class, but Jaylen Waddle fits what the team likes to do on offense.

WALTER FOOTBALL - Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan

The Lions need to address every position on defense, and this includes the front line, which took a hit with some offseason losses prior to 2020. Kwity Paye has a chance to move into the upper half of the first round; he's shown some upside in his only year as a starter.

CBS SPORTS - Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Detroit will have a new head coach and a new general manager. There are going to be some changes to the roster and that could include an overhaul at wide receiver. Ja'Marr Chase steps in to provide a vertical threat for Matthew Stafford.
