Motivation comes in all forms for professional athletes, sometimes through criticism. Jared Goff is no stranger to that. He's been clear about carrying a chip on his shoulder from the moment he was kicked out the door by Sean McVay and the Rams and shipped to Detroit. A tough town has rallied around a resilient quarterback.
Goff got the get-back on the Rams two weeks ago by ending their season right here in Detroit. He'd be lying if he said it didn't feel good. But not every disparaging word is worth Goff's time. Most of them roll off his back. Asked Tuesday on 97.1 The Ticket if bulletin board material matters to the Lions ahead of their clash with the 49ers in the NFC title game, Goff said, "Depends what it is, whatta you got?"
Well, Jared, Skip Bayless tweeted --
"Nah, I don’t care about anything he says. You can stop now. Anything those guys say on daytime TV, you can skip over that," said Goff.
Bayless, for the record, said the following on X after the Lions beat the Bucs last week to advance to the NFC title game for the second time in franchise history: "Congrats, Lions. You have won the right to get blown out at San Francisco. But hey, great year."
Skip's cherished Cowboys, of course, were blown out at home in the wild card round by the Packers. Now that's a great year.
