Emmanuel Moseley played two snaps for the Lions last season, grounded by a torn ACL for the second straight year. But he did enough in his time around the team to earn another shot.

The Lions are re-signing the veteran cornerback to a one-year deal, according to ESPN. Moseley was set to become a free agent this month after signing a one-year, $6 million deal with Detroit last offseason.

At the time, Moseley was coming off a torn ACL in his left knee that limited him to five games in 2022. The Lions were hoping that he'd rebound to hold down a job at outside corner opposite fellow free agent signing Cam Sutton.

But Moseley had a setback during rehab that required a second procedure, which delayed his season debut until Week 5. On his second play, he tore the ACL in his right knee and was done for the year. He has played in just six of 34 games over the past two seasons.

But the Lions clearly still believe in Moseley, who stayed around the team during his rehab and was a positive influence on the young defensive backs. He's been a productive player when healthy, notching 33 passes defended and holding quarterbacks to a rating of 83.3 in coverage over his final four seasons with the 49ers.

And corner remains a serious position of need for the Lions, who allowed the second most yards per pass last season in the NFL. Moseley, who turns 28 this month, was supposed to be a key piece in Detroit's rebuild secondary. The team is plugging him back in, and hoping for better results.
