The worst team in the AFC versus the best team in the NFC went about how you’d expect Sunday at Ford Field. The Lions scored a touchdown on their first seven drives in a 52-6 win over the Jags.
It’s Detroit third win of the season by at least 38 points.
A week after throwing a career-high give picks, Jared Goff was back to playing flawless football. He threw for 412 yards and four touchdowns and finished with a perfect passer rating.
Amon-Ra St. Brown had his best game of the year with 11 catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He made it eight straight games with a receiving TD, a franchise record and the third longest such streak in NFL history.
Jameson Williams added four catches for 124 yards and a touchdown, taking a slant to the house from 64 yards out. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for three touchdowns on the ground.
Detroit’s defense was just as impressive. The Lions shut down the run for the second game in a row, limiting the Jags to 41 rushing yards. And they never let quarterback Mac Jones find a rhythm.
Jacksonville went 2-for-10 on third down and managed just 3.6 yards per play.
The victory did come at a cost for the Lions, who lost starting linebacker and co-captain Alex Anzalone to a forearm injury. He left the game late in the second half and did not return.
The Lions have won eight games in a row in the same season for the first time since 1934, their first year playing in Detroit after the franchise moved from Portsmouth, OH.
