Eyeing depth on the interior of the defensive line, the Lions have signed veteran defensive tackle Christian Covington.

The 6'2, 300-pounder will bring size and muscle up front, where Detroit needs it. The club allowed the most yards in the NFL last season, including the second most yards per pass and third most yards per carry.

Covington comes to the Lions after two seasons with the Chargers, and stints with the Bengals, Cowboys and Texans in six seasons before that. He missed most of last season with a torn pec, but made a career-high 52 tackles in 16 games in 2021.

The 29-year-old should be a solid rotational player for the Lions, assuming he regains full health. He's played about half of his teams' defensive snaps over the past four seasons.

He'll also add a veteran presence to a young defensive line room.
