A twist at No. 5 left the Lions with their choice of two of the best defensive linemen in the draft at No. 6: Tyree Wilson and Jalen Carter.
Instead, they traded down.
The Lions sent the No. 6 pick -- and pick No. 81 -- to the Cardinals for picks Nos. 12, 34 and 168. The Cardinals had traded down themselves from No. 3 in a deal with the Texans.
The draft took a major pivot when the Seahawks drafted Devon Witherspoon at No. 5, the Illinois cornerback who had been widely speculated as going to Detroit.
The trade gives the Lions three second-round picks, including Nos. 48 and 55, three fifth-round picks and 10 picks overall in this year's draft.
At No. 6, the Cardinals selected Ohio State OT Paris Johnson Jr.
