Once upon a time, Rex Ryan was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. He was rooting against them Thursday at Ford Field.
More specifically, he was rooting for the Lions.
Ryan, who last coached in the NFL for the Bills from 2015-16, was on hand for Thursday's game, rocking some Lions garb on the sidelines. His son, Seth Ryan, is Detroit's assistant wide receivers coach.
Seth Ryan, a former wide receiver at Clemson, joined Dan Campbell's staff with Lions former offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, who had hired Ryan as a quality control coach when he was head coach of the Chargers.
Despite Lynn's firing at the end of last season, Campbell and the Lions kept the 28-year-old Ryan on staff -- and gained another fan in his dad.
