Gator's 2023 NFL mock draft: Options galore for Lions

Nobody wants to be overloaded with analysis, so I'll get right to it. What the Lions do at No. 6 could be directly related to how many quarterbacks are drafted in front of them. The more, the merrier, if you want to land a top defensive lineman. This is a representation of what I THINK will happen, not necessarily what I WANT to happen. Here We Go!

1. Carolina - QB Bryce Young, Alabama

2. Houston - DE/OLB Will Anderson, Jr., Alabama

3. Arizona trades with Tennessee. Titans - QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State

4. Indianapolis - QB Will Levis, Kentucky

5. Seattle - DT Jalen Carter, Georgia

6. Detroit... Count 'em up, 3 QB's are off the board, thus leaving the Lions the opportunity to draft the third best defensive lineman, the top corner, or the top offensive lineman. Every other position seems to be a reach at 6. This is all about getting the most value, and I think the separation between Anderson and Wilson is narrow and that talent would exceed the other aforementioned positions. The pick is in: Lions select DE Tyree Wilson, Texas Tech.

7. Vegas - CB Christian Gonzalez, Oregon

8. Atlanta - QB Anthony Richardson, Florida

9. Chicago - OL Paris Johnson, Jr., Ohio State

10. Philadelphia - RB Bijan Robinson, Texas

11. Arizona - OL Darnell Wright, Tennessee

12. Houston - OL Peter Skoronski, Northwestern

13. Green Bay - TE Michael Mayer, Notre Dame

14. New England - CB Devon Witherspoon, Illinois

15. NY Jets - OL Broderick Jones, Georgia

16. Washington - CB/S Brian Branch, Alabama

17. Pittsburgh - CB Joey Porter, Jr. Penn State

18. The Lions on the board again, looking to trade back. Alas, there are no partners to be found. The pool of players includes the top WR, top LB and RB2. All very enticing, yet they go back to the trenches and bolster the D-line with the endless motor and crazy productive DT Calijah Kancey from Pitt.

19. Tampa Bay trades with Baltimore. Ravens - WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba

20. Seattle - DE Lukas Van Ness, Iowa

21. LA Chargers - WR Jordan Addison, USC

22. Tampa Bay - OL Anton Harrison, Oklahoma

23. Minnesota trades with Dallas, because Jerry can't help himself. Cowboys - DE Myles Murphy, Clemson

24. Jacksonville - CB Emmanuel Forbes, Mississippi State

25. NY Giants - WR Quentin Johnston, TCU

26. Minnesota - QB Hendon Hooker, Tennessee

27. Buffalo - OLB Nolan Smith, Georgia

28. Cincinnati - TE Dalton Kincaid, Utah

29. New Orleans - DT Brian Bresee, Clemson

30. Philadelphia - DT Mazi Smith, Michigan

31. Kansas City - OLB Will Mcdonald, Iowa State

This leaves lots of talent available for Round 2 of the Draft, including several defensive backs, linebackers and tight ends, positions of need for the Lions. With selections at 48 and 55, barring any trades, they are poised to add more quality players to their already very young and exciting roster.
