Jared Goff: "I don't know if I've ever been a part of something like that"

Looking at the box score, it's hard to make sense of the Lions' 52-14 win over the Titans. They had a season low in yards -- by a wide margin -- and a season high in points.

That's what takeaways and good special teams will do for you. Four of the Lions' six touchdown drives started inside the Titans' 30-yard line.

"I don’t know if I’ve ever been a part of something like that where we start with the ball, not only in plus territory, but in the red zone," said Goff. "And we did our job and punched them in for touchdowns. That’s what we were asked to do today and did that well."

Detroit's defense forced Tennessee into four turnovers. The kick and punt return units piled up 262 yards, including a 90-yarder to the house by Kalif Raymond. Six different players scored offensive touchdowns for the Lions: Raymond, Sam LaPorta, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Brock Wright, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, who also threw a touchdown.

Ever been a part of something like that, Jared?

"Yeah, no -- that’s another stat. I don’t think so," he said.

Goff threw for the fewest yards (85) of his Lions tenure and second fewest of his career, and still posted a passer rating of 129.9 by throwing multiple TD's and no picks for the fourth game in a row.

"I’ll take it," said Goff. "I’ve had a lot of games where I’ve had a whole lot of yards and not a lot of touchdowns, so those even themselves out.”

The Lions put up just 225 yards of total offense -- nearly 200 yards below their season average -- and threatened the franchise record for points (55) in a game. They likely would have broken it had they not pulled Goff and most of their offensive starters early in the fourth quarter. Despite the number on the scoreboard, Goff wasn't wholly satisfied with the performance.

"I know that sounds kind of hollow after scoring 52, but there are some things that we can do better on offense when we weren’t down in that red area," he said.

Of course, when you score like that and push your record to 6-1, it's hard not to go home happy. For all the "people saying be careful for a trap game," said Goff, "we were geared up and ready to go."

"They came out and fought us and we had to fight back and blow it open there," he said. "It was a good one.”
