Harbaugh says NCAA investigation 'nothing to be ashamed of'

Michigan's Jim Harbaugh declined to comment on his pending suspension for alleged Level I violation of NCAA rules, but suggested Thursday at Big Ten media days that he'll clear the air in time.

Harbaugh is facing a four-game suspension for allegedly misleading NCAA investigators about a series of Level II violations that Michigan committed mainly during the 2021 COVID dead period for recruiting.

"As you probably already know, I'm not allowed to talk about any aspect of that ongoing situation," Harbaugh told reporters in Indianapolis. "I'd love to lay it all out there. There's nothing to be ashamed of, but now is not that time. That's about all there is to say about that."

The NCAA notified Michigan last year of four Level II violations. In Harbaugh's initial meeting with investigators, the NCAA alleges he was dishonest about the details of said violations; Harbaugh maintains he didn't recall the specific events.

If and when Harbaugh's suspension is confirmed by the NCAA Committee on Infractions, Michigan star running back Blake Corum said Thursday that "it's going to make us go even harder."

"Maybe a little motivation, light a fire under us. I'm gonna rally my troops, get them going, and we're going to do this for Coach Harbaugh, if that is the case," Corum said.
