Ford Field becomes a ghost town in a normal year if the Lions aren't winning. This season fans weren't even allowed in the stadium until Detroit's loss to the Colts on Sunday -- and by fans, we mean 500 friends and family of the team.
So you might not be surprised that the place wasn't exactly jumping.
"I can't tell you how dead it was," said Colts QB Philip Rivers. "It was unbelievable. It felt a little bit less than Chicago to me, at least early on."
Indianapolis played the Bears in front of no fans at Soldier Field in Week 4. Rivers said the Colts' sidelined added a little energy in Detroit as the game wore in.
"The hoots and hollers from our guys on the sideline early on in the game, I know we didn't come out and set the house on fire by any means, but we sustained it though for four quarters. It created our own energy in a very, very unique environment. I think it felt that way maybe because it was indoors," Rivers said.
Kelly Stafford, wife of Matthew Stafford, was in attendance Sunday and echoed Rivers' statement via her Instagram story.
"DEAD," she wrote. "Was in (Atlanta) last weekend and a total different vibe. Understand we can't have fans, but sh** I was falling asleep."
She followed that up with, "Can I be the DJ!?"
I don't know what Kelly was expecting in a 65,000-seat stadium with 64,500 of those seats empty.
