On Tuesday, tight end Josh Hill retired just a couple months after signing with the Lions.

On Wednesday, the club signed his replacement: Darren Fells.

The Lions announced they've agreed to terms with the veteran tight end, who also played for Detroit in 2017. It's reportedly a one-year deal.

Fells spent the past two seasons with the Texans, catching 55 passes for 653 yards and 11 touchdowns. He'll give the Lions the experienced tight end they lost in Hill to play behind Pro-Bowler T.J. Hockenson.

He'll also give them durability -- he hasn't missed a game since the 2016 season.

In his lone season in Detroit, the 6'7 Fells caught 17 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns.
