After the Lions trimmed their roster on Tuesday, the team has just four receivers. And with at least one roster spot still open — potentially two, given DL John Cominsky is expected to be moved to the injured reserve — Brad Holmes and Co. will likely be looking to add one more receiver.

And with only Jameson Williams listed at over 6-foot, they could be looking for someone with a little size.

Enter Tim Patrick.

The 6-foot-4 former Broncos wide receiver is reportedly set to join the Lions’ practice squad, “with the idea that he will work his way on to the active roster,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Denver released Patrick on Tuesday as part of their roster-trimming after they were unable to find a trade partner.

Patrick missed each of the last two seasons after tearing his ACL in 2022 and his achilles in 2023. But he made it through training camp and preseason without any injuries. Patrick had five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in three games.

Prior to his injuries, Patrick was starting to make something of a name for himself. He had a combined 11 touchdowns and 1,476 yards on 104 catches across 31 games in 2020-21 with Denver.

Patrick, if he were indeed to make the Lions’ full roster, could fill the role vacated by 6-foot-3 Josh Reynolds, who signed as a free agent with Denver this offseason after recording five scores and over 600 yards with Detroit last year.
