The Lions are set to hold rookie minicamp this weekend. Their first-round draft pick won't be there.
Seventh overall pick Penei Sewell announced Wednesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and won't be able to travel to Detroit as intended. Sewell said he got his results last weekend.
"Really wish I was heading to my new home today and able to be at mini-camp with my new teammates and coaches," Sewell said via Twitter. "Look forward to getting out to the D as soon as I’m cleared!"
Sewell, who opted out of last season at Oregon to prepare for the draft, is expected be the Lions' starting right tackle in 2021.
