The NFL was abuzz on Friday with the news of two major trades that altered the top half of the draft, but Brad Holmes' phone was relatively quiet.

The 49ers jumped from 12th overall to third overall, while the Dolphins moved back from third to sixth and the Eagles from sixth to 12th. The Lions were right in the middle of the movement at No. 7, but Holmes said their pick didn't generate a ton of interest.

Not on Friday, at least. Holmes did say the Lions have had trade talks regarding the seventh overall pick this offseason.

Asked if he received any calls on Friday from potential trade partners, Holmes said Monday, "No, I can’t say that my phone was blowing up, but obviously have had discussions with different teams. But I can’t say just on Friday that my phone was blowing up."

With as many as four quarterbacks projected to go in the top 10 and the Lions committed to Jared Goff, it might behoove them to trade down and add more picks. Perhaps they will if the right offer presents itself. But Holmes said they feel comfortable with the players who figure to be on the board at No. 7 and that their intent isn't necessarily to make a move.

"I can’t really say any intent at all in terms of making sure we have value to trade our pick. Again, there’s players that we feel really, really good about staying where we are that we feel comfortable selecting, so that’s not the sole focus. But you gotta be prepared for everything, so we do our work in making sure that we’re best prepared for what may happen with the teams behind us or in front of us," Holmes said.

After Friday's trades, the six teams in front of the Lions are the Jaguars, Jets, 49ers, Falcons, Bengals and Dolphins. The Jaguars are a lock to take Trevor Lawrence first overall and each of the next three teams could also be in on a quarterback. Holmes said the shakeup "doesn't really change our approach in terms of what our plans are" and that the Lions are still looking at "the same set of guys" at No. 7.

"When you’re picking in the top 10, you have to know all those player that are deserving of that high of selection," he said. "So it doesn’t change the players that we’ve been discussing and that may be there or may not be there."
