Bob Quinn has locked up his first draft pick in Detroit for at least four more seasons.
Detroit agreed to a six-year, $85 million deal with left tackle Taylor Decker Tuesday, according to Decker’s agent.
With a salary of about $14.2 million per year, Decker will become the eighth highest-paid left tackle in the NFL.
Ian Rapoport adds the extension, which kicks in after this season, will take Decker through at least 2024. He's set to make $10.35 million in the final year of his rookie deal in 2020.
Decker was Detroit's first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2016 draft. He was stellar as a rookie, but regressed the next few seasons as he dealt with injuries.
But Decker bounced back in the second half of last season, and Detroit likes him as a leader in the locker room. And now the club has rewarded him with a big-time payday.
Next on Quinn's agenda is an extension for Kenny Golladay. The two sides would like to get something done before the start of the season.
