Sonic and Knuckles were up to some mischief Tuesday in Allen Park.
As Jared Goff held his weekly press conference behind a black curtain in the Lions' locker room, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs snuck inside the scrum and popped up on either side of their quarterback.
Montgomery caught Goff by surprise when he grazed his arm in the middle of an answer, and then pretended not to be there. Asked which running back he'd rather hand it to on 4th and 1, Goff grinned and said, "QB sneak usually does best."
Goff then went into what he likes best about Montgomery and Gibbs, as both of them beamed in his direction.
“My favorite thing about David -- gosh -- I think my favorite thing, seriously, about David is how serious he takes pass protection and how much he wants to protect me. And then how fun he is, that’s one of my other favorite things about him," said Goff. "My favorite thing about Jahmyr, I think how much fun he’s having when he’s playing. It brings out the joy in me, the kid in me. He’s my son.”
And with that, Sonic and Knuckles departed, gone as quickly and quietly as they appeared.
