The Lions are keeping Jamie Collins, and they're saving cap space in the process.

Detroit is restructuring Collins' contract so that his $11.3 million cap hit in 2021 will be 'lowered significantly,' according to Mike Garafolo. He will still get the $9 in cash he's due next season.

The cap savings are the product of voidable years added to the end of Collins' contract, according to Garafolo.

Collins, 31, inked a three-year, $30 million deal with the Lions last offseason in part to reunite with Matt Patricia. He wound up leading the team with 101 tackles. He also produced six tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.

Detroit needs a makeover at linebacker, but Collins will stay on board under Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes for at least next season.
