The Lions got off to a flying start Thursday night in Green Bay, but an injury to rookie safety Brian Branch put a bit of a damper on the mood.

With the Lions leading the NFC rival Packers 27-3 early in the third quarter, Branch was carted off the field with a foot injury.

The Lions said Branch injured his ankle and was questionable to return.

Many speculated on social media that it looked like Branch may have injured his achilles as he engaged with Green Bay WR Jayden Reed at the line of scrimmage on a run by Aaron Jones.

But Branch returned to the sideline on the cart a short time later, as the TV broadcast showed him being taped up by a trainer. He returned to the field for the first play of the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, LB Derrick Barnes was also listed as questionable to return after experiencing cramping in the third quarter.
