Earlier this week, it was the Falcons demanding too much from the Lions for the No. 4 pick.
Now it's the Lions demanding too much from others for No. 7.
According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Lions have one of the most tradable picks in the draft heading into Thursday night, along with the Panthers at No. 8, but GM Brad Holmes' asking price is pushing teams away.
"Several teams believe the Lions are overplaying their hand and seeking too much capital for the pick," according to La Canfora.
The Lions have always seemed like a prime trade-down candidate, with several QB-needy teams behind them in a QB-rich draft. They've been linked most frequently to the Patriots at No. 15.
Of course, ESPN reported on Wednesday that the Lions had tried to trade up to No. 4 for WR Ja'Marr Chase, "but the Falcons' asking price was too high."
And that's usually how trade talks begin. Ask for a lot, prepare to accept less. If the seventh overall pick is indeed in high demand, Holmes is right to drive a hard bargain.
He still has time to negotiate, if he's eyeing a trade down. The draft doesn't begin until 8 p.m. on Thursday, and the Lions probably won't be on the clock for another hour after that.
The price is wrong, until it's right.
