Lions Cornerback Saivion Smith has been taken to a hospital after suffering an apparent neck injury in New England.
Early in Sunday’s game against the Patriots, Smith was motionless on the ground after a collision near the line of scrimmage with New England TE Hunter Henry.
The exact nature of the injury, as well as what caused it, were not immediately clear.
Medical staff put Smith on a backboard and into an ambulance. The Fox broadcast said Smith’s father came out of the stands and went to the hospital with him.
Sunday was Smith’s first start for the Lions after spending several seasons bouncing around the league.
