More questions than answers right now concerning Kenny Golladay.
Will he miss significant time with the hip injury he suffered against the Colts? If so, has he played his last game for the Lions this season? He he played his last game for the Lions, period?
And now this: did Golladay skip team meetings on Saturday out of frustration with his contract situation?
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported Sunday morning that "things have been tense between (Golladay) and the organization for quite some time; he's been brooding over not getting a new deal, and that came to a head on Saturday when I'm told he was not at the facility when he should have been."
La Canfora added during Sunday's broadcast that the Lions ultimately had to dispatch a team employee to track Golladay down.
Matt Patricia quickly shot down that report Monday afternoon. So at least we have an answer there.
"Kenny was here in the morning, Kenny got his COVID test, Kenny was here in the afternoon, actually, for some extra work on his body, Kenny was here at night, and Kenny was at bed-check," Patricia said. "So he was here."
Asked specifically if Golladay was at all required meetings, Patricia said, "I think I'm good on Kenny Golladay questions for Saturday. I keep everything in-house as far as what we do with our meetings and who's required to be where and when. So I don't really know where that report came from."
Asked if the Lions did have to send someone out to track Golladay down, Patricia said, "I had no issues with Kenny on Saturday."
Golladay is in the final year of his rookie deal and seeking a long-term extension. The Lions haven't been willing to meet his demands, and Golladay hasn't been willing to lower them.
That's led to some speculation that this could be his final season in Detroit. It's even led to some rumors that he could be dealt by Tuesday's trade deadline.
Patricia said he hasn't sensed any frustration from Golladay regarding his contract.
"No. Kenny and I have great dialogue every day, really, from that standpoint. Like I said, I don't really talk about contracts with anyone publicly, so really don't have anything else to say there," said Patricia.
As for Golladay's injury, which will reportedly sideline him for at least Week 9, Patricia confirmed that it's a "day-by-day, week-by-week" situation.
"I would say that is true," he said.
Golladay left Sunday's game late in the second quarter and finished with zero catches on four targets, the first time in his career he was held without a catch.
