With a league-best 12-4 regular-season record against the spread, the 2010 Detroit Lions were one of 27 teams with a league-best ATS record (including ties) over the last 20 years.

Only four of those 27 teams missed the postseason, including the 2010 Lions. How did the other 23 teams fare in the playoffs?

Those teams went 17-24 (.415) ATS after going 271-92-7 (.742) in the regular season.

Only one team went 3-0, the 2016 New England Patriots. The Patriots were also the only team to reach the Super Bowl after posting the league’s best regular-season ATS record.

Eleven teams went winless, including most recently the 2021 Dallas Cowboys (0-1). And the 2017 Minnesota Vikings were the only team to go winless in multiple games (0-2).

This year’s Lions team is next in line after a 12-5 regular-season ATS record. As of Tuesday’s NFL odds at BetMGM, Detroit is a 3-point favorite over the Los Angeles Rams.
