Last offseason, Matthew Stafford was considered a darkhorse for MVP. Now's he one of the favorites.
Heading into his first season with a Rams team that's made the playoffs three of the past four years and boasted the best defense in the NFL in 2020, Stafford has 14-1 odds to win MVP, according to BetOnline.
That's tied for fourth with 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson, trailing only Josh Allen (10-1), reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers (9-1) and 2018 MVP Patrick Mahomes (5-1).
It shows you how much the oddsmakers think Stafford will shine outside Detroit. He has better odds than the likes of Tom Brady (16-1) and Russell Wilson (22-1) despite his inferior numbers in 2020.
As for Stafford's replacement?
Jared Goff is the new darkhorse in Detroit. The two-time Pro-Bowler whose plays has slipped the past two years has 80-1 odds to win MVP, tied for 28th with Jimmy Garroppolo, Daniel Jones, Dalvin Cook and rookie Zach Wilson, who's expected to go second overall to the Jets.

Wilson is second, followed by the trio of Justin Fields, Trey Lance and Mac Jones at 150-1.
