The Lions waited eight games for the return of their left tackle. One game later, he might be back on the shelf.

Taylor Decker missed practice Thursday due to an elbow injury presumably suffered in Wednesday's practice after making his season debut last week coming off a finger injury.

Naturally, the Lions are about to face Myles Garrett and the Browns, who lead the NFL in sacks. Garrett has 13 sacks on the season -- one less than the Lions have as a team.

If Decker can't play, Penei Sewell will likely slide back over to left tackle and Matt Nelson, who played as a blocking tight end last week and is nursing an ankle injury of his own, would move back to right tackle. And the Browns would lick their chops.

However the Lions line up, it seems increasingly likely that Tim Boyle -- not Jared Goff -- will be under center. Goff missed his second straight practice Thursday due to the oblique injury he suffered in last week's tie to the Steelers, which doesn't bode well for his chances of playing in Cleveland.

Boyle is currently on injured reserve due to the thumb injury he sustained in training camp, but he returned to practice last week and has been taking reps with the first-team offense this week. The Lions can activate him ahead of Sunday's game.

Hopefully he's ready to scramble.
