Coming off a three-win season and their fourth straight last-place finish, the Lions are ... America's Team?
Vegas' Team, at the very least.
As training camp nears, the most popular NFL wager this month at Caesars Sportsbook is the Lions to hit the over on six wins this season.
Not only that, Dan Campbell has drawn the most overall money to win Coach of the Year.
Not only that, D'Andre Swift has drawn the most overall money to lead the NFL in rushing yards.
For all his talent, Swift has finished 39th and 33rd in rushing yards in his first two seasons. He's also yet to play more than 13 games. If he can stay healthy behind what looks like a dominant offensive line, he could certainly make more noise in year three. More noise than guys like Derrick Henry, Nick Chubb and Jonathan Taylor? We'll see about that.
As for the Lions, they certainly look like the people's pick. And they do have some appeal after playing well down the stretch last season and then adding two of the top players in the draft in Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams. Campbell thinks they can be the NFL's version of Rich Strike, the longshot winner at this year's Kentucky Derby.
If that makes Campbell the jockey, he would be close to a lock for Coach of the Year.
