Dennis Schroder has been on eight playoff teams in the NBA. The Pistons are hoping to be the ninth.

The Pistons have acquired Schroder from the Jazz as part of the blockbuster trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors, per multiple reports. Schroder gives Detroit a proven producer and a veteran presence in the backcourt to support All-Star Cade Cunningham as the club pursues its first playoff berth in six years.

Schroder has averaged 14.4 points and 5.5 assists while shooting about 36 percent from three in 47 games this season between the Warriors and Nets. He was originally sent from the Warriors to the Jazz on Wednesday night, before being rerouted to Detroit ahead of Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline.

The 31-year-old Schroder, who's appeared in 68 playoff games in his 12-year career, is on an expiring contract worth $13 million.

The Pistons are reportedly sending a second-round pick and wings KJ Martin and Josh Richardson to the Jazz to complete the transaction. Martin and Richardson were acquired by the Pistons on Wednesday from the 76ers and Heat, respectively.

It would appear that guard Lindy Waters, also acquired Wednesday by Detroit as part of the Butler trade, is staying with the Pistons.

The Pistons are 25-26 and seventh in the East, one game out of the six seed and 5.5 games above the play-in cutline.
